As a parent, one of the biggest challenges is the expense of buying clothes for children. Kids tend to outgrow their clothes quickly, making it tough to keep up. This not only costs a lot of money but also puts strain on the environment due to the constant need to buy new clothes. Imagine having clothes for your kids that expand as your kids grow!

Founded in 2017 by aerospace engineer Ryan Mario Yasin, Petit Pli from the United Kingdom, uses synthetic fibres commonly found in cube satellites and unique folding techniques to create children's clothing that can grow into 7 sizes.

Reduce replacement and let clothes grow with children

Ryan came up with the concept of Petit Pli children's clothing when he wanted to give a gift to his newborn niece, but when the niece received the gift, it didn't fit anymore. So Petit Pli children's clothing came into being, effectively reducing the need to buy new clothes, while also reducing the carbon footprint. Soon, this design won the James Dyson Design Award, 2018 Dezeen Award Best Dress Award, 2019 Red Dot Design Award and other honours.

According to Petit Pli, if the life of a piece of clothing can be extended by 9 months, it is equivalent to reducing carbon emissions and water use by 20% to 30%; when making products, there is no need for extra cutting, reducing production excess trimmings; The feature that a product can be extended to 7 different sizes also reduces the pressure on e-commerce warehousing. Beyond its environmental benefits, Petit Pli's weatherproof and flexible design makes it ideal for children to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

The garments are made from a unique mono-fibre polyester material that can adjust and fit up to seven sizes. This means that parents can purchase one garment instead of seven different ones. The fabric is also produced using recycled bottles, making it 100% recycled polyester. The use of mono-fibre polyester not only makes the garments adaptable and versatile but also provides a comfortable fit while reducing waste.

After the children's clothing products were successfully put on the shelves, Petit Pli also started the development of adult clothing. By using proprietary growth technology in the garments, designs grow to trace the face & body and support the capacity to transform, especially during pregnancy. Founder Ryan said: "Fashion's impact on the environment is not limited to children's clothing. We aim to clothe the future of humanity, we are just starting with the next generation."
